Has anyone got recommendations for the best of the budget tyres for fl2, I saw some davanti tyres being advertised and wondered what the best of the budget options are

The best place for them is on the tyre fitters shelf.

There speaks someone with loads of money. I really don’t see the problem with them, just keeping motoring economic.

I generally don't buy the cheapest tyres (I buy Yokohama if available), but have bought plenty of cars that have budget tyres fitted, including both if my current Freelanders. I've not really had any issues with cheap tyres, although I have noticed that they seem to perish and crack sooner than premium brands, and some budget tyres are more noisy, but otherwise they seem acceptable for most driving situations. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Budget tyres will have one of the three points of performance poor, probably the most being the wet weather performance, generally their wear rate is good.
Regarding noise, the outside tread pattern determines noise, the more the tread cut is to right angles to the direction of travel the noisier the tyre is, so if you want a quiet tyre cheap or expensive chose the one that has the tread cut 45deg or more to the direction of travel plus or minus my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The thing is it’s a 5 grand motor not a quarter of million pound Ferrari. It would get written off at the smallest amount now days and would not get anymore money if it had a £300 tyre or an £80 on it. As for wet conditions etc, I very, very, very rarely get over 50 mph now days what with speed cameras, camera vans , lane closures, stationary and slow moving traffic. We used to drive faster years ago when road was empty in cars with no seat belts or airbags etc on remould tyres. Just wondered if there was a pick of the bunch in budget tyres.

Its not the going, its the stopping that's important.

I'm not rich but I don't skimp on tyres. Much rather spend an extra £20 a corner on a decent tyre that some "dye-yung" brand I've never heard of. There are other areas in life you can make savings, tyres for me is not one of them. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Something else to look out for is a set of alloys with tyres. I just bought some Discovery Sport 18 inch Alloys with x4 Scorpion All season for £200. They came off a 2019 vehicle, alloys perfect and age dot of tyres was 2020 and 6mm even tread. You can further reduce your net spend by selling on your own alloys.

Eloquent/Disco sport and FL2 wheels are all interchangeable as offset etc the same.

Convoluted, but may suit some. I’m delighted as the new alloys are unmarked and a massive improvement on the previous set.

My brother needed a full set of tyres all round - the fronts were showing the cord, despite passing an MOT just a week before !
He couldn't afford to replace the Continentals that were on it with new ones. I suggested buying a set of wheels and tyres off of Ebay . I found him a set of 4 Disco Sport alloys with very good 7mm Continental tyres. £275. He had the tyres swapped over on to his rims as he has a Sport LE and sold the Disco alloys for $£200 ! Yes, a bit of a faff, but £75 for a good set of branded tyres is a bargain - cheaper than 1 budget tyre.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.
Picking up a spare set of 18” rims, with quality tyres, at around 5mm each, for £200.
And the wheels will still have a value when the tyres are worn out.
