Thanks - and yes seems to all be charging fine, no issues with starting or any wild electronics issues that come with bad/low battery…

Try using a long screwdriver or simular to listen to the noise you might be able to narrow down the area it's coming from, I had a simular noise but louder and it turned out to be the A/C compressor.

This was the exact noise I had before my pulley disintegrated leaving me stranded at the side of the road with no power steering. I'd misdiagnosed the noise as coming from the air compressor and as I was about to go on holiday, decided to do further investigation when I returned. However, one morning uring the holiday there was a squeal and a grinding noise that started and stopped abruptly, but I drove it up a hill and then a bang as the plastic pulley shattered and the belt melted.

Thanks all - asked the garage to look into the alternator in particular and they confirmed the noise was from the pulley, so replacement's on order! |
