Another hst with detachable towbar

I brought a genuine detachable towbar and electrics from Marshalls Melton Mowbray via ebay as it was cheaper than going to my local dealershop and buying it! I was once again told that a detachable kit can not be fitted to the hst kit, even though i told him ive seen one!!!!!!

Any way started it saturday bout 4pm, had trouble at first taking the bumper off! i thought what a great start< but once i found the hidden screws behind the wheel arch splash gaurd i was away!!! didnt take that long really. The most intense bit was cutting small bits off the bumper at a time. Better safe than sorry! as i normally go straight in with guns blazing!!!!

P.s the car isnt sitting funny, its my unprofessional picture taking!!

Here are some pics now that i was helped to upload them!!!! Mr. Green

haven't 100% made my mind up, after having the FFRR for 10days and getting back in mine even with all the problems i just think its just a great car and drives better than the FFRR, but I am still looking around, also looking a a D3 now, my boss (dad) got back tonight from his hol's and has got a couple of things to sort (one of them been a big dent from a 4' long piece of 4"x2" that nearly came through his windscreen Shocked )

Not much on the Q5 forums either Whistle Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Same here I enjoyed the loan D3 i had for 3 weeks, but soon as I got my Fl2 back It's a miles better drive,
The handling on a fl2 is great for a 4wd the center of gravity is obviously quite low some how, and the body roll is minimal.
I love mine, The best car to drive I have ever had (had about 30 cars in last 20 years) including an M3 a 840ci sport, Imprezza Wrx, Fl1, T4 Volvo, Golf GTTDI 150bhp, XR3 Cabrio, 320i cabrio, 325!

s18mcn

when you fit a towbar is there any drilling to be done for bolts or are they already there?

And have you had to have the electrics enabled to turn off the parking sensors?

On my iPhone at moment so can't get to look at instructions on ownersinfo Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hello npinks, no drilling stall the chassis is alredy predrilled and threaded to take the bolts on the left hand side as look at the back of the car. On the right you remove the main bolt for the tow hook and fix another bracket to that. Then bolt the main towbar support between the two. Feel free to email me on s18mcn@hotmail.com I took pics throughout install so if you want any pics....

Well done s18mcn,

I think that you should try and post the series if you are able. Who makes your towbar, is it a Brink like mine ?

My Dealer (now gone), never said that one couldnt be fitted to a HST, they just got straight on with the job.
