Hey, can anyone help, please.

At the weekend the tailgate release kept clicking open. I would get out the car, engine running or not slam the boot and it would unlock about 30 seconds later. I could lock the car from inside to prevent this from opening whilst driving thankfully. I sprayed WD40 in the catch and it started clicking. Finally it stopped, and so did the release button! I can still lock and unlock using the key fob. I’m guessing the fuse has blown.
Question- should I buy a new boot catch? Does anyone know which fuse it is for the tailgate release on a FL2 2013 dynamic? I’ve searched the internet and fuse index but failed.

If the fuse had failed, it wouldn't unlock at all.
The latch is permanently locked when the boot is closed, an electric motor releasing under the command from the CJB when the handle button or remote is used. If its unlocking by itself, and locking the vehicle stops it, then it suggests that the CJB is sending the unlock command to the release motor.
First place to look would be the switch in the boot handle. I'm thinking that if it's closed permanently, the CJB could well open the latch after a short delay. This is a pure guess though. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I had this problem , replaced the tailgate switch solved it. 2013 FL2 XS.
Defender 90 300 TDi.

As above, its a well documented issue, search for boot release, tailgate switch etc on here, there are loads of posts.
It's the microswitch inside the boot release handle failing. I believe you can remove and solder in a new microswitch for a few £, easiest solution is to buy the complete new handle on ebay

Remove the inner tailgate trim, unscrew the boot plinth containing the number plate lights, unplug and remove old switch unit and replace with new. 10 minute job. Mine has failed twice, might order another one to keep in stock as a spare. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
