England 2008 Freelander 2 i6 GS Auto Lago Grey
FL2 i6 CPS

Hello
Please can anybody advise where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on a i6 3.2 ltr engine and if possible the process/sequence to replace the CPS

United States 2008 LR2 i6 S Auto Tambora Flame

Be aware that the shop manual uses "CPS" to mean "Cam Profile Switching", which is a solenoid.

The cam position sensors are labeled "CMP".


Download the shop manual, it has diagrams with labels and text descriptions of all components. Look in section 303-14a.

United States 2008 LR2 i6 S Auto Tambora Flame

Forgot the wife took the other car, so I was able to take a pic. These are the CMPs, LH side facing forward, driver's side USA.

Process to R&R:

1. Unplug the electrical connector. If the lock tab breaks, just use a zip tie to re-secure the connector like I did.
2. Remove the bolt (torx?)
3. Pull the sensor out.
