2009 Freelander 2. Manual. TD4 E GS

I have had a period of trouble free motoring since I replaced the intercooler pipe causing an underboost error (cheap fix that!). Then about eight weeks ago the engine cut out at set of lights, 15 minutes into a commute. Despite, the initial suprise as there had been signs of an issue, i was relieved to clear the 'reduced engine performance message' and simply drive off again by restarting the engine. I didn't give it too much thought and put it down to a dodgy batch of fuel.

Four weeks later and randomly (?) 100m from where the car cut out last time it did the same thing. Plugged by cheap reader in to try and catch a code but nothing showing. Restarted fine and has been fine since.

This morning (very mild) I had the same thing but this time it was when I was starting the car to set off. No error codes again and restarted fine and has been driving fine for the rest of the day.

FYI- recent MOT showed OSR CV boot losing grease

Would be interested to hear any views or ideas. Another hose issue? Diesel filter?

Crank Sensor, or it's wiring/connection.

Throttle body failing can give random stalling and loss of power issues. Crank sensor or it's plug gave similar issues on mine.
It's not related to the CV boot.  Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Much appreciated, it adds up that it might be a crank sensor issue. I will get one ordered over the weekend

Quick update - Crank sensor on way from J Craddock and no issues in the meantime until this evening. Whilst idling at traffic I was experiencing intermittent surging up to 1500rpm. This surging persisted for the next 10 minutes until I got home.
Just had a quick run around the block after a couple of hours rest and no issues.
Is this still pointing to the crank sensor or should I expect more/worse?

Replaced the crank sensor, no issues since. Cheap and cheerful fix thanks to contributers on here.
