2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HST Auto Stornoway Grey
Previous owners on here

Hey guys my missus bought an Orkney grey td4 HST FL2 registration BL57TKO. I was just wandering if anyone on here might be a previous owner. It came with no service history what so ever, so the dealer knocked a £1000 off screen price, changed all the oils in gearbox diffs etc and service. She did write to the previous owner but had no response. Just a long shot really.

It is a long shot but you never know you may get lucky.

I'd be curious as to what the "oil leak" was on the last MOT and whether that was sorted .

One of the issues with earlier FL2 units is oil leaking because the sump casting has become porous . My 09 had this issue for 2 years before I sold it . The cost of replacement v a couple of litres of oil per annum would never payback on a vehicle of that age .

With respect to an 07 with no service history . The 10 year cam belt , tensioner , water pump service should have been done in 2017 latest . That’s the big thing I’d wonder about with no service history , and I’d be looking to get that done rather than hope . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Thanks guys, i am hoping. The oil leak is coming from the top of the engine and was only picked up on the recent mot, I've had me a look and i believe it's coming from the top hose area. I just need to jet wash it off to be certain. I just thought about the cambelt the other day so must get some quotes about it. Any ideas what the cost is roughly to change it?
I have a full fat overfinch and it wants for nothing so i want the missus to be the same with her HST.

You could cut a piece of card and wedge it under the top air pipe as a tell tale on the leak

It could be the breather that joins the main inlet between the airbox and the ‘organ pipes’ or I had the concertina section split.

If you give Marrion 4x4 a call on 01922 492765. They'll give you a quote over the phone. Thomas is a trained LR mechanic and worked for John Craddock for many years before setting up on his own.
