Which tyres for 2011 HSE FL2

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice to change all 4 tyres on my FL2 - currently running 19" alloys with the Grabber AT3 in 235/55/R19 - they started deforming and there is a lot of noise when driving on the motorway. Any tips / previous experience and recomendations would be appreciated. Note the car is in the South of France, so weather is not so wet, rather dry and warm. Thanks!

Do you do any real off-road driving or just normal tarmaced and hard surface driving? Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Hi Boxbrownie - i don’t do real off-road driving, mostly tarmac roads and some light country gravel roads or in fields. The Grabbers At3 have a good rugged look but driving wise, I have nothing to compare them to. Thanks for the help!

Road bias 4X4 tyres similar to the OEM tyres will be fine for you.

Something like this maybe

Michelin Cross Climate will get the best out of the car in rain and winter , and will be fine for 1O% of your driving off road on tracks , but not plough or mud . Same with Bridgestone A005 weather control . Both are excellent road tyres . I’ve used them myself .

If you want a really quiet AT tyre , Pirelli Scorpion , are IMHO great but if you’re not using their potential it’s a waste of money , fuel , and they are not as road compliant as the all seasons mentioned above , I had them
on my FL2 , but that car was in the fields 3 days a week . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto .

TBH for what your driving seems to be I’d go with Michelin/Pirelli/Goodyear road biased SUV tyre. Regards

Running Cross Climates on mine, tarmac roads and London potholes, wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again, although must agree that the ‘look’ of the chunkier General Grabber are more what you’d perhaps expect a 4x4 to be wearing.
Ran CCs on my Subaru Forester for years prior to selling it. Decent mileage out of them.

Thanks, indeed the choice seems to be logical to go more towards road biased tyres - I'll probably make the call between the Michelin Cross Climates or renew the Grabber AT3 for their "look" - The AT3 have been a good tarmac tyre until the rears deformed and creating a loud humming noise.

The AT3 is a 50/50 road/off-road - it will be noisier, less fuel efficient and have less grip on wet tarmac than a more road bias tyre. But the differences are small. The biggest difference is fuel efficiency as they have an E rating.

I had the GG AT tyres on my old Disco 2 and didnt really notice any difference between them and the original Goodyear Wranglers, until you got into the muddy stuff. Jules

I fitted those to my i6……they were excellent tyres, nice and quiet like a normal road bias tyre but with a tread which could deal with a bit of the slippery brown stuff as well, marked as a M+S tyre. Regards
