They do indeed. The crooks are ahead of the manufacturers and the police, but it's designed to help reduce thefts by the casual crook. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Your explanation of the VIN coding is both credible and convincing ... however that does not make it any more appealing in the real world. Here, the owner should have free access to full control over all elements of the vehicle's components. Should this be by a freely issued code from the manufacturer upon proof of ownership, or not, could be a matter for debate. But free uninhibited access should be the owners right. These restrictive practices should be illegal.

When you used SDD to set up a replacement module, what option did you use?

Well done with those successes. When I tried it, I also used the Configure New Module route, but it wasn't having it. I tried several times without any joy, that's when I gave up and sent it to ControlUnits. |
