Used 2008 TD4 with 150000 miles. Is it ok?

Unfortunately here in Greece there are few freelanders2 for sale. Most of them are with petrol engines 3.2 but because of taxes rules and gasoline prices its hard to buy one. So I am considering to buy a diesel 2.2, nice condition interior exterior, with service book but with 150000 miles. Is there anybody else in here with so many miles on the odometer to share with me any experience? I am a little bit worried.

There are many on here, who's vehicle has gone far above that mileage,
for me, the main thing to check and (I would consider having it done again) even if it's been done.
is the timing belt, followers and water pump,
complete with a through service including ALL fluids,
remember it's not just the engine, the g/box, transfer box, diff, haldex coolant and power steering,
expect to have possible issues with the suspension as that also will have done 150,000 miles (Greek roads)
Are you sure it's MILES and not KILOMETRES.
only you can make that decision, but the mileage along should not put you off.
Good luck

Υοu are so right. Its a difficult decision. Damn I think I should go for the petrol. At least I will find one with less miles. Thank you anyway.

only you can weigh up your needs,
overall the Freelander 2 is a tough motor
even buying a petrol model will still mean a FULL service at the start
of ownership,, I'm saying this purely for peace of mind,
basically have enough spare cash for service etc after buying any motor. DAVE.

The bearings in my 120k 2.2 TD4 engine were still at the factory specification for a new engine. So the engine is very long lived.
The gearbox, PTU, Haldex and rear diff aren't as durable, particularly the 3 latter items.
All need servicing long before LR suggests, or they fail early, so before the 150k service is even due. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate on order.
Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE.
