Should I take the fuse out?

Haldex problem is getting worse, vibration on both steering locks.
Will be replacing ASAP should I remove the fuse until replaced?

I would - it will switch the haldex off, giving you front wheel drive only. But if the problem remains after fuse removal it means you have a jammed up haldex. Jules

Thank you, Jules, Looking at the handbook for my 2013 should I take out, luggage compartment, FB1 (Electronic centre diff)
Will it then show up with a fault code?

So taking the fuse out causes no harm to the Haldex then? It might help me identify the problem.
I suspect I have a haldex problem as when accelerating quite gently from standstill or low speed I get a slipping / jamming sound from the rear of the vehicle. Originally thought it was a chirp from rear tyres as torque comes in ( as you can get on powerful rwd cars) now don't think it is the wheels/tyres but something to do with the Haldex. It is more pronounced in hot weather but doesn't happen if you ram your foot down and accelerate hard. Can the Haldex stick before releasing as it moves to 2wd.
Had a new Haldex pump at 48000 but don't know whether they serviced the whole unit or not ( it was a JLR main dealer). It was done as part of the sale deal but I didn't ask for the details as I knew nothing about Haldex systems then. Now on 67000 so a haldex service is due soon anyway.I
Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

Says FB1 in my manual too.
Yes, you get several alarms popping up. They wont clear after you've reconnected everything until you drive it. Jules

I had the same symptoms recently and serviced my haldex to find haldex oil level was very low. Cleaned pump screen, new filter and new oil. All good again. I'll check level of haldex oil in future in case it is leaking but never see any sign of an oil leak below it. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Can be many causes. Mine is currently de-fused as I'm getting a shudder under hard acceleration, or when maneuvering on lock. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Booked in to see, Austen on the 16th. I asked Austen if I should remove the fuse and he's response was not to as in he's experience it can confuse the issue.

Don't really understand that. Surely you just put the fuse back and go test the car. Jules

I agree. The shuddering is the front and rear fighting each other, which forces the Haldex clutch pack to slip in jumps. This is putting enormous strain on the PTU splines (already a fail point) and the rear diff pinion too (another fail point).
So IMHO, it's safer to remove the fuse, hence remove the overloading issue the sticking Haldex is causing.
I'd love to find the cure, other than fit a replacement, as there must be a simply fix for this common problem. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

I’ve found the 4 15a fuses in the luggage compartment, but can’t see any lettering to say which is FB1 ? Do they just pull out guess. Forgive my ignorance 😀

Well the manual for my 2014 SD4 says "luggage compartment (AKA the boot I presume) , FB1, 15amps, blue, electronic centre differential"
No pics though.

But google is your friend. Found this in seconds with a "Freelander 2 FB1 fuse" search

&ab_channel=FuseDiagrams

So useful in fact Ive saved the link for myself

The role of the FB1 fuse changes dramatically depending upon model year. Jules

I assume you went through all the different model years on the video

I will have to check mine as its a 2014 model too. My manual only lists the fuses - there are no diagrams of the fuse positions.

My manual is LRL 100256151 published 2013 Jules
