3.2 i6 MAP Sensor

Hello

My i6 has been diagnosed and found a faulty MAP sensor which I’m going to have a go at fixing as it seems like it should be a simple enough job? Some questions;

1 - I have conflicting sources for the part number LR015294, if this is correct? Quite hard to find confirmation among all the diesels parts

2 - Any specific tools needed apart from I assume a torx screw(s)? Annoyingly it’s at the garage for a different reason so I can’t just take a look, and Land Rover are having trouble sourcing the part because of course they are, hence my ‘I’ll just do this job myself’ approach.

Thanks for any help!

Phil,

The LR015294 is a common fault but it is not a MAP sensor.
That the Fuel Pressure sending unit and you will need Torx tools to remove it.
I've replace this part on both of my 3.2's but I've never replaced a MAP sensor (I have replaced the receptacle)

Do you have the code?

Assuming that you actually need a MAP sensor and not a Fuel Pressure Sending unit then the sensor doesn't need any special tools to remove.

1. Remove the electrical connector

2. Press in the sensor and rotate it and then it can be removed

It sounds easy but the electrical connector is very fragile and easy to break and you need the special tool to remove the terminals from the broken receptacle

Here is the Volvo part number for the receptacle 30658215

Here is location of the MAP sensor

This picture is misleading I think it is for installing so reverse it for removal

The part number for the MAP SENSOR is LR002566

Good luck

Paul

Perfect, thanks Paul.

Yes one site named LR015294 as a “ Air Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure MAP Sensor” but my usual parts source said it was, as you mentioned, the fuel pressure unit. So thanks for confirming I shall stick with my usual supplier source.

I’ve had errors P0069 and P0108 bringing on the engine management light.

I’ll get an order in for the correct part and try not to break the connector. Thanks for your help!
