Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Bucket list trip ticked off.

Ardnamurchan and Applecross
Been on my "todo" list for many years.
So after two years of lockdown i decided to go.
From Howwood via Loch Lomond,Glencoe to Corran Ferry. Cross Corran ferry and right out to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, most westerly part of UK mainland. Then back to Salen, up to Arisaig and the night in Mallaig.£120 for BandB
Calmac ferry to Armadale on Skye, then via Sky Bridge to Balmacara, turn left to Lochcarron and via Kishorn to the Bealach na ba(Pass of the cattle) to Apple cross. 13 miles each way from Kishorn on single track road.
Very busy dozens of stops for other vehicles and cyclists.
After leaving Applecross drove across country via Inverness to Aberdeen to spend night with my daughter. Home next day.
Total mileage 633, £163 for diesel. Computer finally showed 38.7mpg but that was because of the 170 mile trip from Aberdeen on Dual/motiorway roads. Car ran perfectly, Not bad for me being nearer 81 now than 80.
Photos to follow. seem to have lost them. Jim A

Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

That's a couple of long days! You should, of course, have taken the MV Glenachulish from Skye to Glenelg and included the Mam Ratigan in the trip! Laughing

I used to occasionally do a work trip where I had to start at Achiltibuie, visit Applecross and Arnisdale and finish in Auchtertyre all in the same day, with stops in a dozen or so other places along the way. All good fun, but pretty knackering! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Glad you enjoyed it. I've got the North Coast 500 on my list of todos.
Did LEJOG last year - cycling through Scotland was wonderful, the gorse was in flower - golden Jules

Really fancy doing the north coast 500 but worry it's too congested to enjoy it? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Due to the covid this was the first long trip in the Freelander.
So comfortable to drive. Never felt sore at all.
Actually turned over 120k miles on trip.
Car never missed a beat. Jim A
