Part Technical help

Hey guys - I need some professional advice.

I cant find this part anywhere - DH52-18C815-AC but I have found this part DH52-18C815-BC - notice the small difference between AC and BC.

The main difference is the BC unit has DAB - which i dont have in my ed4. Despite this, do you think I could do a straight swap and still connect things up? From the back they look similar. What do you think?

Hi chigo58,
unfortunately it does not work like this, this module requires the activation of the DAB function with SDD, and for this I am not even sure if the CD and FM function works.

Thanks for the reply panozzz - i am not really looking for activating DAB.

As long as I have normal radio, bluetooth and CD - all is good. Do you think that they will work as a direct swap?

I gave up asking people for help - and gave it a shot myself. Success story and here's what I can confirm:

- the part i had was from a Range (DH52-18C815-AC) - same as mine. Direct swap, no coding was necessary.
- bluetooth worked immediately after pairing with a Oneplus 7T. zero problems with music and calls.
- this video helped a bit to get me started - although my setup was simpler (see steps below)

Steps taken:
- unclip the top cover with plastic prying tools, carefully
- remove two torx screws on top
- unclip the cover under the screen and remove the two torx screws
- gently pull off the facia and turn it to one side (no need to unplug everything just be careful not to over extend)
- unscrew the bottom ac buttons (4 torx screws) and leave dangle
- unplug three connectors from radio (press the release buttons gently)
- unscrew radio tray holder (2 torx screws)
- unscrew radio from tray holder (2 screws - not torx)
- pull radio tray out and CD player and replace it
- connect connectors and follow the reverse procedure to put everything back in place

Hope this helps anyone else with a 2014 model with bluetooth problems in the CD head unit

After almost two months later - the new unit has has given up on bluetooth just like its predecessor.
Pulled all radio fuses out (FD1, FD2) left it for a few mins and the unit appeared to reset its audio settings - but not the BT component. Censored Twisted Evil

The core of the issue is that the previously 'Land Rover' (Parrot based) BT device is now no longer discoverable and consequently never reconnects to my phone.

There has got to be some good soul out there who knows how to reset the darn thing through some key combination of sorts.

Being a software engineer, I just can't accept that the BT module just died. It feel like its hung up, but nothing that pulling fuses shouldn't reset.

Anyhow - for the time being, besides being Censored off, I'm sticking to my UGREEN 70304E which does the job albeit not as fancy as the LR's BT module.

(update) As a side note, when it worked, i would have to switch on the radio to know the phone is connected. This would reveal the battery level and the signal strength of the phone in grey to the right of the display screen. It otherwise would not show me that or even connect. I thought this to be pretty lame tbh.

In an attempt to try and reset the unit completely, I pulled out and disconnected the unit completely.

Left it sit there for a while and reconnected. Nada, unit was and remained not discoverable. Even tried reconnecting the old (DH52-18C815-AC) unit - same results.

Since I also have a DH52-18C815-BC unit, i decided to plug that one in. It switched on and all, but NO AUDIO came out. BT worked too and i was able to pair. NO AUDIO however meant it was a non-starter for me.

In desperation i left the old unit installed and closed everything up nice and tidy again.. anyhow, this proves a couple of things:

1. Disconnecting the unit completely DOES NOT reset the BT module inside the unit
2. Connecting a similar unit (DH52-18C815-BC) wont work properly so dont bother trying (unless u can do JLR SDD programming)

For now its the UGREEN 70304E thats doing the job.. :/

Bobupndown, im very close to that.... Confused

I am tempted to buy a piece of kit loaded with SDD JLR to see if there any software updates for the unit.
It just can't be that the unit just dies... perhaps someone with some SDD JLR experience might be able to guide me as to whats possible, and what's not.
