is haggling always possible?

seen another car that I quite fancy, price is £16,480

I was offered £1500 for mine as a trade in

https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...767lry.JPG

which is about what I expected, but am I wrong to think the garage is being a bit tight? Thats effectively nothing knocked off the purchase price, I would much prefer a straight £16,000 then £1,500 trade in. Its a well known nationwide garage bunch.

What do you reckon ? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -
2007 HSE with HST bodykit in Zermatt Silver 169,700 miles (dec 2016 - May 2022 )

Tell them what you want you have nothing to lose. Common sense isn't very common.

If you was closer, I'd be very tempted to take it off your hands for more than £1500, if it's as good all over as it looks on the outside. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

the car I am after shall be nameless, as I cant stand the jeering and derision I would get on here Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

But I like 'signs' ie things that happen, I mulled overnight what to do and still didnt decide, but while looking at the car this morning for about 15 times the advert changed, £500 knocked off Bow down Thumbs Up Bow down Thumbs Up

So that to me feels more comfortable as a deal...

Car just looks so much more modern than my freelander 2, I know have the dilemma of possibly swapping the HST alloys all with 8mm tread, for my spare set of HST alloys in silver with 5mm treads which are clearly not selling on fb marketplace, I am thinking the 8mm wheels may sell easier . . .

I'm in the market for buying at the moment and I'm finding the dealers are not moving much on price even when I point out a couple of £K repairs needed to the car. I'm a cash buyer but no dealers are interested they want to provide finance as another revenue stream for them.

So they low ball you on your trade in
They overprice the car for sale
They want you to take out finance with them
They then want to sell you a host of other useless products to increase the sale value

I hate buying from the trade.

Northcroft - I'd take it off you in a hearbeat at £2000. BUT (and there's always a but) I'm not in a position to collect it myself at the moment, or the foreseeable, so it would mean a courier collecting it. Last time I used a car courier, it cost far more than a pound a mile (despite what the various sites promised) due to it being a Freelander 2. I'm sure it was around £1.60 a mile and that was 6 years ago.

You are spot one, youve won a banana, its in the post now . . . . .Yes, I am someone who said I would NEVER have a white car, yet some cars to my eye look okay or great in that colour . . .

Dont mind manual box at all and I do like a sun roof which it has.

Ha, my other half's niece's boyfriend (that's a mouthful) has the same one in that colour. I'm just off out for her niece's birthday dinner, so I'll try and get a snap of it.
