Wifi birdbox.

My wife bought me a Wifi birdbox two Christmas's ago. Last year we had a blue tit begin making a nest in there but while I was watching, a Starling poked his beak in the hole and frightened it off. This year I made the hole smaller and.......Tits!

Yep, they started building a nest again and so far she has laid an egg a day. Up to 5 at the moment. Very Happy

I get blue tits and nuthatches.
When the eggs hatch it’s amazing just how hard the parents work to keep them fed.

Sad news, we had blue tits nesting. We watched them daily going to and fro. Then suddenly last week ,nothing since Sunday. I took the box down on Thursday to check. Opened it up to an ominous smell and the skeletal remains of 3 very small chicks - basically nothing left of them but beaks. Probably 1st time parents.

Always sad to see but nature can often be cruel.

I built this box last year. Last year just a few blue tit visitors. This year 8 chicks. Well worth the effort to watch them build, lay, hatch and then feed the chicks.
