I’ve just had my 2008 Freelander 2 serviced. I was advised that there are traces of oil around the turbo, but that this was just an advisory. I would be grateful if anyone can let me know the symptoms I should look out for should this become more of a problem. Please be aware I’m a numpty when it comes to technical terms, and am still bemused by being told my car had three swollen lug nuts…..

Sounds like someone is touting for business, doing unnecessary work on the vehicle.
The most likely cause is an occasional oil drip from the air intake pipe. Or even from the pipe joint when the pipe is removed for maintenance.
The oil gets into the intake pipe from the breather system, and is of absolutely no consequence. Just make sure the clip is tight, and don't worry. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.
