Just bought a new cat N damaged Freelander 2

Just bought myself another Freelander 2 to repair. 2013 Dynamic, only 55000 miles, full LR service. Light frontal damage, that hopefully won't take too long until its roadworthy again.

Excellent ! What a great looking vehicle. Is it the Dynamic or another spec with the Dynamic kit fitted ?
As long as it's only cosmetic damage, you'll have it sorted in a couple of hours.
It's a great way to get a great vehicle at a massive saving. And if it's cosmetic only, your fix will only be what the insurance would do if they were to fix it. Wish I could get my hands on a later vehicle needing very little to sort.
Well done Thumbs Up

Yes, its the Dynamic, auto, leather, keyless entry. I think the Insurance paid out £16000, I got it for £6500

Difficult to see in the photos, what is the damage.
Looks a good motor, Can't believe the insurance company have written it off.
No wonder premium's are so high. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

The damage is light, but will need a new wing, bumper and grill repairing. Also some dame to radiator and intercooler. So when all the parts are added up and you include labour, the costs start increasing. If you do the work yourself and use 2nd hand parts you can save quite a lot of money.

Sounds like you have dropped on to a decent car which can be repaired fairly easy. please do keep us informed with the progress and maybe with photos

Repair progress so far. Although the damage was light, lots of the parts are plastic and break quite easily. The only damage to the car frame was the headlight mount bent down and the bracket that holds the rad assembly was also bent. Both were quite easy to straighten. Couple of annoying bits of damage were the A/C electrical plug breaking off and the alternator rear plastic cover breaking.
The parts I have had to replace include Radiator, A/C condenser , intercooler, fan housing, crossmember that holds the rad pack and crash bar.

While you've got the cooling pack off, you might as well change the oil and filter as its a doddle to access ATM
