My 07 manual TD4 is getting around 28mpg at the moment, which isnt fab is it? Journeys of 20 miles, including motorway in these trips, I have left the MPG screen on, just to check what I get, the best I got yesterday was 29.3, tried at 70 mph and 56 mph.

I do believe mpg is worse in winter, but surely not that bad?

As you know mileage is up and down depending on the type of journey but I found an improvement of around 10% by doing a diesel purge using Liqui Moly. Don't know if anyone else has tried this and would like to comment.

Have used Liquid Molly a few times, usually during a service. I fill up the new fuel filter with it and it cleans the system on startup and the first few minutes of run time. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

Sorry but if you are getting wheel alignment checked find somewhere with a 4 wheel alignment check. Probably not Kwik Fit.

It's possible you have a sticking caliper, which is causing the wheel wobble and would also effect the MPG.
After a fastish drive, spray a small amount of water on the front brakes, if the water boils off really faster one side over the other, then it's likely the hotter brake is sticking. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

2007 TD4 doesn’t have instantaneous fuel readout, it’s averaged over a distance, about 30 miles I believe. My 2007 TD4 manual has a long term figure of just over 33 mpg measured top up to top up over the last 11 years. Best mpg figure is obtained when driving at around about 60 mph over long distance. I’ve travelled 420 miles at motorway speeds or near and still shown 90 miles remaining range on readout so overall range is great.

According to thermodynamics a heat engine should be more efficient in cold weather as energy extracted depends upon the difference between combustion and ambient temperature.
This was apparently quite noticeable with steam engines. Just saying . 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

went to Tyre Spot this morning and left the car for half an hour while I had a look in tesco, they did a wheel balance on front wheels, £10 a wheel, bloke said they were way out (could be a standard expression ) quoted some figure I think of 55 or 66 . . . like Vienna, this meant nothing to me, just wondering whether to go back now and get rear done as they are the same batch of wheels I got in June

55 or 65 is grams of weight needed to be attached to balance the wheels. Definitely would have all 4 done but £10 a corner is a bit steep. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

With the fuel don't forget diesel has an extra 5% crap added this year and they will have an effect, when I drove from Scotland to Dover I could get 40mpg but as soon as I filled up in France 38mpg was the best I could get at the same cruise settings, France has had 10% crap added for a few years now. You've just got to live with the green lobby that really don't live in the real world. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
