United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Barolo Black
Fuel Gauge issue - image of wiring - Help please

Hi all, I've seen the extensive thread on the issues with the earlier FL2 - ours is a similar issue on 2007 FL2 diesel - everything's fine and then the gauge bleeps and the needle drops to zero, sometimes the range goes down to zero as well and sometimes it stays where it should.
A sharp corner will get the gauge back up and sometimes it just goes back up without intervention anyway I understand that there is a workaround where a bypass cable can be fitted, can anyone with experience have a look at the attached image and advise me, does this look like the workaround has already been completed on this vehicle? Also would the exposed copper as per the image potentially cause the issues noted earlier?
Also, on the connector, is there a clip around the back to release it?
Thanks for your help in advance.
