Importance of a good battery

This afternoon I had what I can only describe as a "Oh. Oh bother" moment.

Jumped in the car, stuck the key in the dash and was greeted with every bong and error message possible, key wouldn't eject, car wouldn't start and couldn't move the selector out of park. Oh, and the car was live (throttle body "whistle" kept going, auto wipers and lights were live, but no starty-starty). As I couldn't eject the key and the start button was unresponsive, this left the car in a half alive zombie state.

Reason I was jumping in the car? I was nipping out to buy a battery Thud

Battery had been slowly deteriorating and the previous evening the CTEK had thrown an error attempting to charge it. A battery analyser I put on it at lunchtime showed 12.1V and only 420EN CCA

Luckily I have a booster pack handy so after rummaging around in the kitchen for more coffee and a head scratch I was able to get enough juice in to get the key to release. A new battery, codes cleared and all is well again. Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

Change the fob battery as well. Your older version is rechargeable but they do get tired. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
