Hi all,
I bought this car a couple of weeks ago as a donor car. I have been looking for one for a while, and this one came up locally, spares or repairs, needs new gearbox. After viewing and driving the car I was pretty convinced that the fault was a split turbo hose. Sdd confirmed my suspicions, turbo underboost, no other related dtc's.
The vendor has been told by her garage that the gearbox needed replacing, had bought another car, and just wanted rid, even though I shared my thoughts and findings with her.
So here I am, a couple of weeks down the line, new silicone manifold hose, and a car that is far too nice to use as a donor. Starts on the button, no warning lights, drives well IMHO. I can not detect any adverse transmission noises. I understand that the garage diagnosed as requiring a new gearbox due to the reluctance to change up due to underboost. This symptom has now disappears following the replacement of the turbo hose and the car changes up and down smoothly.

Bodywork in good order except small rust areas at bottom of both rear doors extending on to the rear arches, and a small crack of the rear bumper. Photos to follow tomorrow.
4 good tyres, rears match, fronts do not.

Some history, new rear bilstein shocks. Vendor told me timing belt has been done, but no paper evidence, so I would budget to change it along with the water pump, ancillaries and all fluids / filters
Previous owner 7 years.
Interior in good overall condition. No splits to drivers seat. Carpets / mats could do with a good clean (cream), and the car smells a bit "doggy", as she had a Newfoundland.
I have priced the car at the lowest HSE spec I can find for sale on the usual websites, though cars in this condition seem to be fetching considerably more.
I am offering it to members at this price first, hoping for a quick sale. If I do not get a result by the beginning of next week, I will advertise it more widely.

Although this is not relevant to be just wanted to say thank you for keeping another Freelander 2 on the road and offering a good car to members.
