Freelander 2 190HP 2013 83k miles Auto

Driving down A69 yesterday display indicated " Gearbox fault reduced traction ", I was traveling at about 65 mph.
I noticed a change in the handling of the vehicle and pulled into layby and switched off engine.
After 5 minutes re start and fault clear.
Drove about 100 miles and fault not returned .

Now reading on here this could be caused by a problem with Haldex pump/unit.

I have the vehicle booked in for diagnostic check on Friday.

Does anyone know if the diagnostics will be able to pin point a fault or will it just say faulty unit.
Had the oil changed in the unit about 8k miles ago but not the filters .

Do you think regardless it would be wise to change oil and filters .

Thank you

Hogey, Welcome to the forum.
Strange we've got two newbies today both with similar questions.
Have a read here, https://www.bellengineering.co.uk/fault-symptoms

I have had this issue twice… the first time a new battery (replacing the factory fit original) cured it but a couple of years on and yet another new battery, the warning remained permanently illuminated after the first one or two hundred metres following start up.

Eventually, I booked the car into Bell Engineering but a day or few before it went in, I happened to give the car a vigorous sports mode blast and lo and behold, the fault cleared itself and didn’t return. I still took the car to Bell though and despite only 40k miles on the clock, the Haldex was properly gunged up. Full Haldex service and diff oil changed whilst it was on the ramp and fine ever since.

The first episode cost me a new battery… the second, a new battery, a new CTEKcharger with sundry accessories, an iCarsoft LR v3 and a Haldex & Diff service Very Happy

Loads of information on here about haldex issues.
Part of the problem is the the JLR maintenance schedule is inadequate for the haldex unit.
Other manufacturers service their haldex units much much earlier eg every 30k miles.

They is no oil drain on the haldex. Ask them how they intend to get all the old haldex fluid out (They'll probably suck it out as much as they can rather than take the unit off the diff) and are they going to clean the pump filter as well as the disposable filter (probably not)? Jules

As Reggie says -

If you are getting strange faults (especially randomly and/or on startup)) then getting a new battery often cures the problem. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)

Replaced battery only a few months ago.

Had it plugged in at LR this morning and the diagnostics say Haldex pump is defective .
£600.00 for replacement and software upgrade .

Have warranty i purchased when i bought the vehicle so hopefully they will pay

Hi, I did come across a recall to change the brushes in the pump motor the other week on the Haldex. Apparently there was a batch with weak springs that stop the brushes wearing down far.
