Cooling fan bearings.

I am pretty sure that the noise I can hear is one of the cooling fan bearings. As the twin fan assembly is expensive,I intend to remove it and change the bearings. Has anyone done this? It would save time if I had the new bearings to hand before dismantling. Does anyone know what bearings are fitted?

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

They'll likely be OEM Oilite bushings, which unless you have a lathe, and some Oilite bearing stock, you'll struggle to change them. These things are designed to be disposable should they fail, you'll probably even struggle to get the motor casing apart, normally being sealed for life. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Thanks guys. Useful information.
I will look at squirting some lube in. If that doesn't work I'll have to look for a used assembly.

Brilliant guys. Thanks for your help. I am thinking I should by a used assembly off eBay and change the bearings before starting any dismantling of the car.
