Very first land rover

Hi all nice to meet you all. New to the land rover sceane i purchased a freelander 2 auto 3 weeks ago. 2008 hst covered 123k. Soon as i got it i done full service and trans oil fill and dump, it has a new recon rear diff just before i purchased it so heldex pump should of been done,,,,maybe?,,, Really clean car, over the moon with it,,,, well,,, 2 weeks in and it broke down,so it was in my garage and i broke the tools out alot sooner than i excpected, all sorted now so back to driving in a bit of luxury i have come from a transit connect so luxury it is, its gonna get well used as i do travel the contry detecting so alot of on and off fields so hoping this is the kiddy for the job. If there is anything i can do to prelong any future problems i am all ears. Thanks guys.

It should have had the cambelt & pulleys (+ water pump) changed by now - worth checking. Jules

"new recon rear diff just before i purchased it so heldex pump should of been done" (sic) as you say "maybe" - rear diff can be changed without changing the haldex filter or taking the pump out for cleaning. Jules

Just a tip , as you say you will be taking your car into fields . Even though the wheel arches have plastic liners and a plastic trim covering the inner lip of the wings , these area are a mud trap . Well worth a jet wash straight afterwards if you venture off road in wet conditions. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Check the subframes for corrosion and get them waxoyled. 2013 FL2 XS.
Defender 90 300 TDi.
Defender 90 300 TDi CSW.

Thanks for the heads up and them items that i have checked or will check.
Subframe was and has been wax oiled through its life, had a cambelt fitted in 2018 so will but another one on in the new year, i will chech heldex filter. Thanks for that, i will be rewaxing it underside and defo keep the mud from that area, thanks again guys very much appreciated 👍
