Hear strange noise after turning the car off

I'm pretty sure it isn't a problem and is something that is part of the LR2's normal operation but I am curious as to what it is and maybe somebody here knows what it is. After I turn the car off after a relatively good drive I hear a strange noise in the left rear part of the vehicle, right above the wheel base. It sounds like it is pumping something. The noise doesn't appear in any other part of the vehicle, anybody know why?

I can't really tell, quite possibly. As I said before it's just this noise that is coming right above the left-rear wheel.

I hear it, too as I normally walk past that part of the vehicle on my way to the house. It's a very quiet, definitely mechanical noise, like an electric pump. Since we don't have air suspension, I guessed it was probably just the fuel pump. Not sure why they would have it run on another minute or two after turning the vehicle off.

The other day, I noticed that I also get a slight buzzing from under the hood. It was dark so I haven't had an opportunity to try and isolate that noise, yet. This is on a 3.2 gas engine, not diesel.

I have this too. 2011 SD4 SE. Did you ever get to the bottom of it? Mine has just started doing it...

On the left rear of the car just above the wheel arch liner is the breather hose for the rear diff, my rear diff went and chucked oil through this pipe hence the reason I know where it is...
The noise could just be air escaping due to the pressure difference as the diff cools down after a drive possibly?

The only other noise im aware of that these cars make on shutdown is the high pitched whine and a few clicks from the throttle body , should only last 30secs or so..

It's a pump, definitely. I'll try to record the noise.

Here is the noise. It happens about every 5 seconds when parked.
