Great story on bbc website tonight about a convoy of cars that followed a double-bodied tanker thinking it was carrying fuel; turned out he had 20 tonne of mortar for a construction site Rolling with laughter When he stopped at the site the guy at the front suggested the tanker driver should have pulled over and told them he didn’t have fuel.

Nut cases, it is plainly obvious it is not a fuel tanker, apart from the fact there is no fire extinguisher or hazardous warning signs.

Why would the truck driver stop, he could have been mobbed.

Next the idiots will be following the milk tankers!

That's typical of some of the local nutters in and around Northampton. If you are going to waste your time following a tanker first make sure it is a fuel tanker, most of them have fuel company logos and names - e.g. Shell, Tesco etc. and they will also have HAZCHEM orange marker boards, the top line will show 3YE and the bottom line a four digit number. Next, make sure it is full and not returning empty to the depot, look at the height of the suspension, 40ish tonnes of fuel compresses it quite a lot. Also bear in mind that tanker drivers are trained to call the police is they are suspicious of anyone following them as a tanker full of fuel makes a fantastic weapon for any terrorist.

I pulled into my local Sainsburys (Biggleswade) this morning around 10:30am, close behind me was a tanker to deliver, as I pulled away to go home at 11:15 the roads were solid with traffic.

Word got out about the delivery very quickly.

I said to my wife a few months ago that thew next thing would be shutting off petrol and diesel supplies to force people into Electric cars, which in most country areas one cannot charge them. We have now also run out of electricity for the winter, so no hope of running the central heating, or the Heat Pump, and electric car that are going to save the planet. I often wonder what powers the stupidity of Politician's minds. IF!!! the Planet were saved, we would theoretically be back to the Stone Age and frozen solid.

If we are forced to become fully electric for everything, will we be allowed to run personal petrol or diesel back up generators for our homes, etc? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

In the last 7 days , twice , as I normally do , I’ve filled my car tank from quarter to full . Both times I’ve used a Morrison’s forecourt , just driven on and filled up, no drama . On Saturday I drove from Emley , West Yorks , ( which looks like being my new abode ) to Ilkley . I did see one closed fuel station on the Leeds ring road , but on the other hand passed another 3 that were business as usual . I did no see any of the extreme queuing that occurred over the first weekend . Saturday was also the most traffic dense day I’ve seen in months . I did notice that the diesel prices are the highest I’ve seen in ages around £1.38 -£1.39 litre . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Different game down here in London - no guarantee if and when a forecourt will be open, if it is you'll certainly need to queue and may then be restricted in the amount you can buy. However that'll not stop some abusing the system, £90 on a £40 limit not unheard of.
There's been queues on a regular basis from 0600 at the local Shell, causing serious blockages in the high street to the extent that some bus services are on divert.
Managed to get £40 in the week (albeit V-power) so am probably good for 200 miles but being mindful now on where we go for the time-being at least

Exactly the same here as well (Wimbledon/Tooting/Earlsfield and Merton) No fuel to be had yesterday and you know as soon as somewhere has had a delivery as the traffic grinds to halt. I'm also being very mindful of how we use the 3/4 + full tank we have. Hope it sorts it's self out soon. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

the worse use of fuel is generators, lawn mowers and other heavy gardening equipment.

my Honda generator eats fuel, full tank = 4Hrs
