United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Barolo Black
TD4e 2010 Starter Motor

After breaking off the small connection to the body of the starter motor solenoid whilst changing the cam belt ......... I am looking for a replacement starter motor. However, from loads of searching, on this site, the Russian LR parts catalogue, and others, I can not pin down the part number for the supposedly beefier TD4e ( stop / start ) starter motor Censored

There seems to be about 6 variations of starter fitted to the FL2, although I can rule out a few as they fit petrol / auto box cars.

Can anyone please advise on the correct part number?

I know I should have taken a photo of the label whilst I had it off the car, which was still legible, but in my frustration and making a temporary repair to get the car up and running again ..... I completely forgot!

As always, any help appreciated.

Guys, why do you all seem to make life so difficult for yourselves?

All you have to do is look an the forum sponsors sites for this sort of information.

See link.

Thanks @ I Like Chips, that is a possibility, but I would still like to know the Denso part number.

@ Badger51, if you can point out which of the 3 starters listed on the AF site, I would be very grateful. I can not find the correct one for the TD4e listed there. From the listings they all fit all FL2 2006-2014. As an aside when looking for glow plugs earlier in the year, AF listed one for diesel engines FL2, turns out there are 2 varieties, one at 11v and one at 5v. Even our site sponsors don't get it right all the time.

Looks like the one that says Denso on it. The first one is for autos, the last isn’t OEM.
Why not give them a ring and ask?

@Grimdog, personally I would go with LR014060, the Denso one in the middle of the three, but I can find no reference to the beefier starter from any of my parts suppliers. As for the glow plugs, that’s an old cookie that has caught many people out over the years, a real pain when you have to do that job twice Smile (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Thanks for the advice guys, I think that I will take your advice Badger51, and go for the LR014060. The stop start doesn't get much use, so the starter will probably not have to work much harder than a non stop start. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

So, to make doubly doubly sure, I took a photo of my starter in situ.

LR number AH52-11001-AC

Denso number 428000-6910

If it's the original part, happy days

But then I found this link to a Denso product update ( July 2016 )

https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.d...U2wKIbQCJ4

Which says Denso part number DSN1208 (428000-6910) supercedes loads of LR part numbers, including mine, and is suitable for both stop start and normal applications. Hope this saves someone else a bit of time. Thanks again to all who contributed.
