New key fob

Good morning guys, can anyone point me in the right direction to buy a new key fob and blade? My missus bought a 2007 Freelander 2 HST and only came with one key fob. To be honest I don't really want to go to a main stealer as I know it will be at least £300 to supply and programme it. I'm based in Lichfield but anywhere in the Midlands will do. Are any on fleabay any good or just Chinese toot that don't work? Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for that Simon, I'll give them a try. I'm not going to be back in the UK until at least Friday so will call them and if they can do it, I'll send the missus to get sorted. Thanks from 1 Simon to another.

BB

Was in a simiar position just having one key and it was a bit worrying

Asked the local Tamworth Auto Elect and the landrover 4x4 specialist on the Lichfield Rd In Estate and it was about £ 180 -200 per key as they only use official keys and I wanted 2 spares (just in case )
No way would they touch Ebay keys

Had a ring around and Remotefobcentre Limited Blaby Leicester 0116 3191232 were quoting £ 100 per key ( cant remember if that included the key cutting
I assume they use aftermarket fobs ( Ebay type )

I went down the DIY route and had orderd some E-bay keys as I thought it would easy to get them "programmed " Which was not so easy

I managed to get the key blank's cut a Wilnecote Lock & key on the A5 by macdonalds £ 12 - 15 each , I had 3 done ( £ 36 ) gave him £ 40 ( brilliant service ) all checked and worked ok in the door lock

I went down the Autel MaxiAP AP200 for DIY programming , I did manage to program a 2 nd key but TBH its a bit scary just having one key and trying to use the software first time and it "deletes " the stored keys and did not work first time ( see my recent posts )
So I cant offer or would be comfortable to program for you

So give Remotefobcentre a call best price I could find

Hope this helps

Crommie

Thanks for that commie. But you know what, I've got a gap id tool that's linked to my fatty, so I'm going to spend the £60 and get it linked to the fl2 as well and I do believe I can programme the key via the gap id tool. I completely forgot I had one, it's an excellent bit of kit it really is. Had anybody on here used the gap id tool to link the key to a fl2? Would be interesting to hear if they have and how easy can it be?

Didn't know a Gap can programme keys. Last time I messaged them, they said no it couldn't do keys

Are you sure it does?

Mr chips,I do believe it can code keys but I'm not sure what models. I bought the gap id to do various settings on the car and sure I read there's only certain models that can be programmed, unless I've misread it. I will take a look at the instructions later when I've parked up for the night.

Autel and aftermarket keys worked for me and others here, there's a thread on how to do that.

It's a bit funky, the trick is if it says it failed to program a key go ahead and try the key anyway... it actually did seem to program the keys but gives an error for some reason. Gave no indication that it might delete the original key from memory, so wasn't really worried about that.

Hey Simon, I gave duplicut a call this morning, (Saturday) and the missus took the car there and supplied a new key fob, programmed and blade cut for £100. All works perfect, thanks for the info there Simon. They are a really great company to deal with, highly recommended.
