Tinny vibration associated with EGR

Wondering if others had found the cause of a tinny vibration between 1800 & 2000 RPM , TDi. I am sure it is associated with the EGR system as at this speed under light loads the EGR valve is active. Given it's completely blanked off in my 2007 model it's no big deal if it is the valve itself . I will just turn up the volume of the sound system!
It's the same sound as I have had with the exhaust heat shield , but the source this time is forward from the engine.
