LRC Paint Codes

My Freelander 2 is in Stornoway Grey. Now, I know that the LR code for that colour is LRC 907 and that it was one of the official launch colours.

However, on the VIN sticker the colour is stated as 'LRC PLRED Stornoway Grey'. I can find no reference to PLRED in any searches. Anyone on here have any ideas?

I only ask out of curiosity. I already have the LRC 907 touch up paint and expect that to be a match.

Tim

Funny you ask this. I purchased a Stornoway grey kit from Halfords.
My VIN just says LR907.
Used the kit to touch up a scratch on drivers door.
To me , not a match in colour. To be honest i made a mess of the touch up and will have to do it again when we get better weather. Try the touch up paint on a piece of cardboard to compare first.
Let us know how you get on Jim A

The problem with any touch up paint is the depth of the paint when applied, which though is laborious the spray can is better, trying to get the touch up properly mixed the applied usually tends to end in a darker shade, you then need to cut back or wet&dry to a thinner layer. Metalics and micatalics rely on the undercoat and the thickness of the top coat to match, then you need to spray on the lacquer to seal the match, the touch up will always produce a darker shade even if correctly mixed due to the paint thickness, if not you can get a multitude of shades even streaks. So basically spray on one quick coat, allow to dry, cut back the over spray, Cif is pretty good and check the match, if light repeat until matched my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Dartman, when you say Cif to cut back with is that the Cif my wife uses in the house?
