Hi all, I did search the forum first and found a helpful thread on facelift, but not pre-facelift.

I have a 2008 HST with electric non-memory seats.

1. Is it straightforward to retrofit an memory driver’s seat? Would this be plug-and-play or would anything need coding? I don’t need dip mirrors, it’s the seat positions I need now.

2. Can I fit a driver’s memory seat and retain the passenger electric non-memory?

(Reason is that my wife is often riding in between our kids in the rear and this would make her getting in/out easier).

I retrofitted a memory seat ( both Driver and passenger ) to my 2008 SE. You will obviously need the memory seat. Most times they come with a module that is under the seat sometimes they don't which you have to buy a separate one (maybe used). My car was already pr-wired so just plugged it in. I changed the CCF to memory seats fitted even though I noticed it's working on my instrument cluster when I press any of the numbers on the memory seats and the seat moved. I noticed my reverse side mirrors also dipped down when I put the car in reverse. I am confident you can only retrofit the driver side and it will work. Good luck

It wasn’t needed for that purpose.

Do you think the module is definitely different for memory and non-memory seats, or whether the switch pack alone could enable memory for that existing electric seat?

The wiring diagram doesn’t make it obvious there are different modules, though I recognise there may well be.

You'll need the seat I suspect, as there might not be position sensors in the non memory seat, but there might be. It would need to be checked. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

Yes. My thinking is that the Hall Effect etc. sensors listed in the wiring diagram could be in a normal electric seat so that it can detect its end stops and avoid burning out. I recognise that could be detected in other ways though. Freelander 2 HST

It would be nice if only the switches were needed to add memory functionality.
I'd do the upgrade on my SE too, but I'm reluctant to replace my immaculate interior, simply to add the memory function drivers seat. So doing it without the seat itself won't be very handy. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

One thing to watch out for. Elsewhere on this forum, last year I think, someone fitted seats from a scrappie from a car that had been in a crash and when he fitted them to his FL2 it wouldn't go. Seems an impact sensor in the seat was switching off the engine. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
