2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver
HDC / Loss of engine power

Hello everyone,

I have a 57plate FL2 HSE and for a while now I've been having a strange kind of re-booting fault when I start the car up, or whilst I've been driving for a short time.

The main dash keeps flashing and re-booting constantly, but after a while (sometimes as long as 10 mins or so) it stops doing this and the main screen comes on, then works fine for the rest of the day.

This weekend, it started doing this fault again but also the engine is now cutting out (whilst driving!) loss of power steering and will only re-start after a short while.

Obviously, it's now dangerous to drive.

I've tried disconnecting the battery (for half an hour) cleaned the terminals etc. and made sure they've gone back on all tight, but unfortunately this happened again not too far down the road.

Has anyone else had these issues and maybe point me in the right direction?

I think its maybe some kind of earthing fault that's gradually gotten worse (but that's just my guess!!)

Thanks in advance for any help or replies, I'm pretty stuck now not being able to get to work.

Howard

Hello SYFL2, The battery was replaced last year with a decent mid range one (Yuasa) but no, it does not have the extra earth strap, i read about that whilst searching. Is that the problem?
