TD4 or SD4 ? The SD4 is quicker than you would imagine for the size and weight it carries, but to check if it has been chipped you will need to take the car to a remapper and they will be able to tell you.

The SD4 is a fairly quick car but should not be any where near the performance of a 3.2 petrol CLK, it’s definitely been chipped Thumbs Up

Don’t forget though off the line the FL2 will feel fast with much more torque low down than the CLK off the line, but of course once it gets above 15-20 mph Rolling with laughter

Easiest way is just try and time the 0-60 on a nice quiet bit of (level) road. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

It is surprisingly quick for a 2 ton brick. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

We had a similar discussion a while ago. Below is a copy of my post then, in which I noted that my FL2 had the same performance as my Triumph Dolomite Sprint, which was very quick in its day.

I have driven SD4s now since 2012 (9 years) I have found I the overtaking, and fast cruise ability, very adequate. - a joy to drive.

I have been a keen driver all my life, but I am very happy with the automatic FL2.

It suits the FL2 large amount of torque, and I believe that you would have to work exceedingly hard to keep in the right gear as the FL2 does. I also doubt that you could produce the quick, full throttle, gear changes time, after time, after time.

I owned a Triumph Dolomite Sprint for many years, it was quick, to my surprise the SD4 FL2 matches the acceleration times and top speed of the Sprint. 0-60 mph 8.7 secs ; Top Speed 118 mph.

If you choose the FL2 SD4 Auto then you will quickly wonder why anyone chooses manual gearboxes.

Also some time spent climbing in the woods on a 'Land Rover Experience' day will show you the advantages off road of the auto box, as you slowly clamber out of the holes, in complete control.

just read through this and I must admit, of late I wondered if mine was chipped, I 'only' have a TD4 and can only wonder how nippy an SD4 could be, my last 2 cars were a Honda Civic 2.2i Type S and a Mini Cooper S supercharged version . . . but the Freelander does not half shift for its weight 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -
