My 2013 XS

Hi all,
Just got myself a 13 Xs in santorini black. New to the freelander world. I've had a 90 hardtop and a d2 in the past but have to say I'm impressed by how roomy the fl2 feels.......except for the boot

We previously had a smaller car so the boot seems big. Not to forget the car actually has a full size spare & that is larger than what most cars use. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This is true, it's just a bit shorter than my previous 9-3 sport wagon

Added roof rails as my first mod, and what a pig of a job it was

More so when you are in the middle of nowhere & have to repair a broken bolt.

Some photos down this page.

Make sure the plastic covers don't come off or you need to buy a set, I tape mine on with a bit of black cloth tape now after loosing one. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for the tips.

I got the roofs rails of amazon. The plastic inserts on the roof were snapped off and had to be drilled and tapped out.
The 4 rear bolts were supposed to be 38mm, bit were 45mm and had to be cut down.
The front bolts were too short and had to be changed

The front bolt of the 2 rear bolts is over the airbag. So if you look into that hole you see the top of the airbag. The rear bolt is clear.

You need to remove the M6 to M10 adaptor to look through the roof.

The cross support bar was so fiddly aswell

One of these tiny Barco ratchet spanners is brilliant for the cross brace with a 50mm extension. (Bahco drive socket set 2058/S26). I use it all time everywhere around the car.

The larger ratchet is a Stahlwille 1/4 drive. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

That's the ratchet.

The set has a hex to square adaptor (top left corner in the box). It is worth buying just for those 2 items. Can't believe how many times I have used it. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I have a teng set just like that the ratchet is awesome for tight spots I use it all the time
The teng set has a few more sockets and a few less drive bits
Must be 15 years old or more now and still going strong

This morning I notice an oil leak at the rear lh wheel. Doesn't appear to be brake fluid as theres no difference in the pedal and no leak when the pedal is pressed.
Any ideas??

Have you looked in the brake fluid reservoir. It's under the little trapdoor on the left side of the plastic panel at the back of the engine bay.

On a bit of a tangent, when were the brake lines last bled, should get them done every 3 years. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
