Hi all,
Soon to be changing the timing belt on my 2014 sd4 along with a new water pump and tensioner.
I have seen plenty videos on the TD4 but not SD4 is there much difference?
Apart from the parts in know bit is the technique the same or can anyone post any drawings.
Current mileage is 86k.

as above easy once you get in to it, but add an extra 10 mins for the application of plasters  2009 FL2 S now gone

For the extra cost you may as well change the Crankshaft and Camshaft seals. Good luck with the pulley bolt.


A torque converter makes that an easy job to undo

I have done about four or five over time on various motors. Just needed a spare hand with setting the tensioner.

I did the cambelt on my wife's Peugeot in 2016, I took my time and had lots of coffee breaks and walks to the beach so that the job took 3 days! Now aged 72 I decided that the FL2 was better left to someone else. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Got the tools and gonna give it a go. Done plenty of DIY mechanicing just never tackled a timing belt before, the idea of getting it wrong and wrecking an engine doesn't appeal but I suppose if you are methodical and the engine is locked you can't go too far wrong. Wee job for later this year.

Mine's due this year and like Dorset will be seeking professional help. I vowed many many years ago not to frig about on engines after changing the timing chain slipper (?) on my MGBGT which on the face of it was a simple job but ended in many tears together with cuts and bruises to both hands.  MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Give yourself plenty of room to work. I took off the front bumper to give better access to the starter motor and I removed the fan assembly for more space.
Just take your time and follow the instructions.
Don't be intimidated by some posts that claim to have done the job in 4 hours, just work at your own pace. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

There's a lot of truth in the above post.

The timing belt change is a couple of hours, for someone who does the same belt all the time. At home for the first time, you'll double that or more. It's better to take your time and do it correctly, rather than rush it and screw it up. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Soon to be sold.

i find the hardest bit is getting it up on stands
taking the wheel off and getting the starter motor
off, other than that take your time mark the belts
ect and swear alot !!!!
