For a year now I've had the battery light on, and in the winter some dodgy starting performance. Obvs, the battery isn't charging well (not that its been used much thanks to lockdown)

The fault code P065B comes up on the OBD app.....

Local garage reckoned last year that the battery and the alternator are fine so either, a) I need a better garage or b) there is something else amiss.

Any ideas where to start? I'm not into working on cars but have done the odd bit over the years out of necessity,

P065B is a code for alternator. If it has been checked ok, look at this thread re alternator cable fault. May be your issue.

cheers fella....not sure how to get past the fuel filter, or indeed where it is, but I'll do some more googling

It looks simple enough, but the filter will need to bleeding upon reattaching it. Do I need a special tool for that?

If you're careful and keep the fuel filter level while you remove it and store it to check & fix the blue wire it will not need re-filling or bleeding once re-fitted.
