I actually got a very positive response a few days after I got it.

I just dropped my son off to play football at his club (yes, I know, the "sockerdad" thing), when I drove through town. I had to stop for a crossroads and on the sidewalk there were some people sitting on a terras enjoying the sun. One guy nudged his wife with his elbow pointing at the car and gave me the thumbs up. Could not avoid a little smile when I drove off, trying to stay "cool".

Also I've noticed that people stop more often at crossroads where they used to pull up infront of you. Probably they think "Aw that'll hurt if it hits me".

After 3 months ownership I look forward to driving the car every time, whether it's 2 miles up the road, going up farm tracks or taking my lad to Uni on the other side of the country. It's a joy to drive - the complete car.

I hope to hell the factory can get through the awful financial state it's in.

Had mine about 5 months and have loved every minute of driving it. Recently started experimenting with the semi-auto mode and actually quite like it. Fuel economy has been quite good too.

Bluemacs - Let's hope it can survive the current turmoil. It would be a crime if LR went down the pan - I don't see how the government could let it given the amount of investment LRJ has put into green development and the large tertiary workforce indirectly employed by the group.

Did not hear much news on if LR have big problems, but some of you seem very worried...
Thought they were doing ok

AFAIK the LR side is profitable (or was, before the recession hit and everyone stopped buying new cars) but the Jaguar part is dragging it down.

And this morning I read that the government is trying to welch on the loan guarantee, and also screwing up the european green R&D cash that was announced recently. Apparently they want to be able to veto corporate policies, nominate the company chairman and have other seats on the board. As if they didn't learn from screwing up the British car industry with Leyland Sad

Yesterday's BBC:

Positive view: "This would not be curtains for a totemic company that until recently was making good profits, our correspondent said."

I think its probably in safer hands with Tata than it would be with Ford at the moment.

I don't have my finger on the pulse but while LR is an iconic name in British industrial terms (as if that counts for anything these days) and has been pretty successful on the civilian front I've been a bit disappointed that they don't appear to be involved in developing future military vehicles or coming up with successors to the WMIK (which I appreciate has been to a certain extent with 'Jackal').

Wandering off topic somewhat.
