Bit of a generic question but I wondered what people's thoughts were on door protection strips

Collecting a new Disco Sport tomorrow and it'll be in a public car park whenever I'm at work so will inevitably get some door dings, however I wondered if anyone has found that door strips actually stop this from happening? Happy to spend a bit to add them on if it'll help, but if folks find most car doors still manage to make contact with paintwork. Learned to drive in 2011.

"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....

Even if they are not at the right height for a particular incident, they do add a bit more stiffness to the panel. On the Freelander there is a fold in the metal. I have seen enough cars here where that fold has been creased.

Citroen Cactus has got the best solution.

Park at the far end of carparks & put the driver's side away from other cars so at least you don't see any dents! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

To be honest I'm just looking to see if I can avoid those annoying paint chips.

There is no far end of the car park unfortunately - it's a retail park so has shops the full length of the car park. Learned to drive in 2011.

Wax the doors, it acts as a bearing, it has saved me from a few light tree branches down narrow tracks in the outback.

Some of the Defender owners get a film put on their cars for bush bashing. You could just get the doors done.

Magnetic car logo on the doors, either with or without actual logo.

They’re probably related to the people who insist on parking so close it’s impossible to open a door when you’ve parked in the most deserted part of the car park and there are empty spaces surrounding you for hundreds of yards!
