so last year my 2007 hse kept having small cut outs while driving. it cut out once just as i left the house and it came up on the dash with "reduced engine performance and died. The garage took it away and said it was the crank sensor which was changed and all good. Last few week i noticed the slight hesitation and minor cut outs while driving again. on the way to work yesterday on a duel carriage way i felt a slight blip in the engine and up came the "reduced engine pressure" the car went into limp and i managed to get to work where the car still is. It will start and come up with the error message. You can hear the turbo wont kick in and when you rev it up it starts to run rough and smoke. Also running a bit rough on tick over.
Any thoughts on this one ? i have a little plug in reader but no codes showing. it is a very basic one so diddnt expect much from it. Is there a possibility its the crank sensor again? The garage diddnt out a genuine one on. just strange it had a few of the same symptoms a few weeks before this. I thought i would put it out to you guys before arranging collection and back to the garage.

What you really need is a comprehensive OBD tool, this will give fault codes which relate to the problem/s

Well spotted. Yes I will fetch my pistol and shoot the car!

I have had the little reader for years and it’s come in handy but it’s not up to much. What would you recommend?

Before anything else is done and for the cost of it you could try a genuine Crank Shaft Sensor.

I put a replacement from e bay in mine as part of my "preventative maintenance". The car wouldn't start so I put the old one back and she fired up no problem. Since then have changed that one for an genuine one with no problems.
