Running Temperature

Hi all, as the cold weather has started what what should the running temperature on our 59 reg freelander diesel be,
at the moment it's just under the quarter after approximate run of 10 miles, is this normal? as this is the first Freelander we have owned so it's a case of finding out as we go along.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Moe

My needle shows just under half way, takes about five maybe six miles to get there. I shall check tomorrow and post if it is any different.

From what your describing in your own motor I suggest you look at the cooling system thermostat it sounds faulty.

Shame the temp needle isn't linear... Stays at that point for quite a temperature range

Thanks everybody, the car is being serviced on the 14th so I will ask our mechanic to check the thermostat and replace it if neccessary, but in the meantime swmbo will keep an eye on the temp gauge thanks again for all your help.

In the old days you would wip out the thermostat and put it in a saucepan on the cooker and boil it up and see if it opens. No need for a code reader in those days. Smile 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
