air bag 55reg

is there any way of turning off the air bags , we are trying to fit the baby seat .
the freelander is a 55reg

To disable the passenger front airbag:
Remove the emergency key from within the Smart key. See UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE.
Insert the emergency key blade into the slot in the switch and rotate to the OFF position.
Make sure the passenger airbag's operational status indicator illuminates yellow.
Yours will be on the passenger side if its a RHD

sorry, thought it was a freelander 2. I dont know if the mk1 is the same

It would apear that you can not simply turn the passenger airbag off on a Freelander 1

It is allowed - front airbag must be deactivated for rear facing child seats.

I think your OK as long as you fit a forward facing child seat and move the passenger seat as far back as it will go.

Not allowed to have babies in capsules forward or rear facing or kids 0 to 4 years in the front seat in Australia.

Neighbours had a very minor accident recently & were required to buy a new baby capsule. It was covered by insurance, but really it is an extreme level of landfill bureaucracy.

Baby goes in the back or you will be fined & loose points. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

its ok here just need the bag turned off , someone must have done it some where .
