paid my dealer the best part of £360 for front and rear pads

you can get any garage to put them on, as long as they are genuine LR pads your warranty will be intact Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Best price i can find is 40 pounds for the rear set and 60 pounds for the front set
both genuine landrover parts
Rear set Part No. LR003657
Front Set Part No. LR004936

SO i dont think i will pay a dealer 260 pounds for the fitting

Local Garage here i come

How long did your pads last? Must check mine as it is coming upto 30K service time. Will fit pads myself if they are looking to charge that sort of money!

I am on 47K right now not so bad i suppose

I'll have a quick check when the wheels are off having new tyres fitted. But sounds as if I don't have to worry for 30K service Thumbs Up

£360 for fitting front and rear pads.

Was the dealer wearing a mask and carrying a swag bag.

Come to think of it, did you book in with the "real service reception" or was it just some hustler waiting for a punter.

If you fancy a trip over to Leeds, with some LR pads, let me know, and I'll fit them for you, for the cost of a round of beers for a group of mates.

Was that just pads or pads and discs ???

My pads were changed for the first time at 45k miles service, was told they were OK at that time but would not make it to the 60k service. I was horrified to be told that all the discs were replaced as well !!! Was also told that disc replacement was quite normal; apparently disc wear is much greater in these post 'asbestos' days

I don't get to see the invoice so I don't know what it cost ... Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.

Disc replacement is more common now post asbestos. My old freelander 1 would need need front pads every 24K and new discs at 48K. Had 2 of them both exactly the same. Blame the brake compounds! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

I remember now!

I would get a grinding noise from the brakes, as the discs got worn, which was actually part of the pad backing rubbing on the unworn inner edge of the disc. So not just stealers trying to pull a fast one. 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

was told at 45000 service that rear pads 90% worn. Shocked
Decided to do the job myself, took the pads off, discs were worn down by 0.5mm so didn't need replacing Very Happy Pads had 3.5mm left, so given that new ones have 10mm they were in fact only 65% worn Evil or Very Mad
I have decided to do the front pads next week as we are towing to South of France in 3 weeks and want to make sure everything is OK. Cool
Have still got a couple of GS wheels with 4mm tread tyres if anyone wants one for a spare. PM me Thumbs Up
