Number Plate Lights

I just noticed that one of the number plate bulbs has blown, should I just replace the bulb or is it worth while taking the opportunity in upgrading both bulbs to LED’s?

Just upgrad!ed mine to LED, using replacement led bulbs rather than full led replacement units. Both options are available from Powerful UK. Chose bulbs because they are cheaper and give me the option to go back to normal bulbs in the event of any problems. Also mine is a 2013 facelift model and the led units would require me to cut and crimp the wiring. When I replaced the bulbs I did notice the wires were quite short and tight and may have been awkward to cut and crimp.
Bulbs from Powerful are not the cheapest available but I chose them because Powerful seem to know Freelanders well and therefore they are more likely to be troublefree.
Simple job to replace them , they seem to work either way round. Just ease out the holder gently as they can break .
The new lights are great. Much much brighter with a white cool light which in my opinion makes the rear much more modern at night. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

I changed mine recently to the full LED replacements from Powerful UK.
Very easy to do, despite the need to crimp the wires having cut off the old bulb holders.
As said - they're much brighter and add light to the reversing lights when they're on as well.

+1 for upgrading just the bulbs. I've upgraded the number plate lights with Osram LED bulbs as well as all interior lights. Certainly does give the car that modern look keeping up the appearance with the newer cars. Freelander 2 XS 2013

The LED bulbs arrived in very quick time and were very easy to fit.

They make a great difference to the stock filament bulbs, look great!

I went for the led panels from powerful. I would say I love them as they are so white but they are also extremely bright. When driving down lanes if I look down in the mirrors it lights up the road! MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)

As they face down it’s ok actually. In fact they are lucky they get to see the sexy ass of a freelander in the dark. Bonus. MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)
