Getting ancillaries positioned perfectly in the 12V socket

Does anyone find they have trouble getting power to things plugged into the 12V rear socket? I have a fridge that has a 12V socket with the soft flexible metal sides but they don't seem to contact very well with the socket. I can simply twist the fridges connector to get the power goin through it. But often when driving I find it gets knocked and then I end up with no power going to the fridge.

I am probably going to fit a new 12V socket when I get home from my trip to see if that fixes it and I am also looking at making it switched from the ignition so it doesn't drain my battery all the way down. But for now I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks to keep it powered.

Hi , change the plug , had the problem before on cars , It’s invariably a cheap and nasty plug, a fix can sometimes be achieved by straining the negative spring bars outwards (carefully).

Thanks. This connector seems to have a two pin plug into it when you unscrew it so I'm not sure where I will get another one of those. I will bend the lugs out slightly for now and will see if I can take a photo of the two pin plug tomorrow.👍🏼

Sometimes the plugs are a bit on the short side so don’t make contact properly.

I actually use the boot outlet to charge auxiliary batteries via DC-DC charger.

I was thinking of changing the socket when I get home anyway just to rule it out but I have a usb phone charger that works perfectly each time in the same socket. [/quote]

I don't have a boot socket on mine though I have searched the forum and know one can be fitted. I like that you have changed yours for an Anderson plug.
