England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Alaska White
Rear door not opening from inside

Hi all,

As per title really. Internal handle is doing nothing. I can hear some sort of movement around the lock area but won’t open.
External is fine, locks and unlocks as it should.
It’s as if the child lock is on but it’s not and I’ve tried it both ways.
Any ideas?

It’s a 2014 HSE Lux if it makes any difference
Cheers

If the door will open by pulling the lock lever to the unlock position manually the the open handle or external button the it's a new actuator, the motors are simple model railway 12v motors, which you can change but for about £25 there is an Indian manufactured one on flea bay, mine has lasted about a year an I suspect all of them have these cheap electric motors even probably the LR version, apart from the motor there's nothing else to really go wrong.
If the door won't open by using the lock lever the the cable from the lock lever has either failed or become displaced either way the door card needs to come off
When removing the door card be very careful as the poppers are very strong and it is easiy to damage the storage pocket when pulling it off, pull it enough to insert a slim wooden wedge near the popper and use the wedge to pop it open. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
