Newbie here, going to see a FL2 tonight. Advice?

Hi all

I have been searching for a FL2 to give to my GF to drive in the countryside, tonight I will be seeing a SE @ 150k miles. Cambelt done at around 100k milles, all electric sorted recently by engineer, and rear diff has been fixed after whining.

What other common faults I should be looking for?

Quite excited as I reckon I wouldn't find many faults if any at all.

Often commented on this site is an infrequent noise after automatic gear changes; a sort of cha-cha-cha. I had it on a SE Auto and on my current Sd4 auto. I've given up worrying about it over a combined mileage of over 100K.

Hi Thumbs Up check under top edge of wheel arches there’s a rubber strip that deforms and lets moisture in check all doors including tailgate open from inside and out and also lock and open from inside will have a think if I can come up with anything else there’s more technical guys on here than me. Good luck.

Some can be very rusty underneath if they've been dipped into the sea to launch boats. Jules

Just got home with my new 06 FL2, everything works but alignment is a bit off (Lean left) and after driving for 2 hours back home, the oil pressure low light start flickering.

Will investigate in the morning!

I once had a throttle body replaced on an FL2 and when I drove off the oil pressure light came on. I went back to the garage and after a lot of fiddling around they found that a connector to the pressure switch had been disturbed just below the throttle body. Worth checking especially if "all electrics recently sorted by an engineer" 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Thank you for the tip. I think I would first change the oil + use original oil filter, as right now it has BritPart kit filter.

- Could anyone recommend a good brand oil for FL2?
- I suspect its been over filled -https://www.dropbox.com/s/s2xr7gkiogthubx/20200821_113232_1.mp4?dl=0
- There is no fresh oil on the undertray, maybe it is an old leak?
- There is oil in different part inside bonnet, I have numbered the photos for discussion.
- The soft material under the engine cover is destroyed, can it be replaced?

I will play with pressure switch and cable once I have sorted out the oil leak (If there is one) and oil level.

Both my Freelander 2 do that. 2007 and 2013 although they are different auto boxes no worries as 2007 is now on 180000
2013 coming up to, 70000, so need some 3324 fluid for a flush out.

Thanks for all the advice!

Ordered geneiune filter, Castrol MAGNATEC Stop-Start 5W-30 A5 AND 27mm Flexible Head Ratchet Spanner and I realised the oil filter housing (With crap filter inside) was not tighten by previos owner by more than 10 turns.

Since then I have drained everything (Not fun to go under car when storm Francis blowing up stuff into your face), changed filter and refilled. No more low oil pressure light! So far....

£3200 for this 2006 Nov SE TD4 in grey @154k miles, cream leather seat, exterior and interior all in good nick with hardly any marks. Think it is a decent price consider everything works.

Next would be new tyres and maybe a Xtrons system Smile
