2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Popping out of 6th gear

My lovely freelander 2 pops out of 6th gear once it’s selected and occasionally it’s difficult to put into reverse... I’ve been told possibly need a new gearbox what do you think?? Is there anything I could check first?

2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

Two of our Freelanders had gearbox problems where they wouldn't stay in 5th. The first one we traded in and the second was under extended warranty and the gearbox was removed and sent to a specialist by LR to be rebuilt. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
