A boring question regarding oils

Hi guys, new member on here just got a freelander 2 2007 to add to my family of land rovers!

I've bought 6l of oil already to give the car a full service but I think I may have bought the wrong oil!!

So I have bought 5w30 API SN/CH4 ACEA C3 .

My freelander is a NON dpf model.

I am under the impression that I need the C1 grade (to ford spec 913-b or c)

Basically what I am asking is, does it really matter what exact type of oil it is because I've just spent £45 on oil from a listing on eBay that advertised it as the correct oil for the car.

I change the oil every 365 days without fail and it will do about 10k in that time.

Surely it won't cause any damage? It's not like there is a DPF to clog up!

Thanks 😊

You need, as per LR instructions, an A5/B5 type of oil.
C1 and C3 should be used in DPF equipped cars.
But you can use it alright in your NON-DPF car.

The engine was originally designed to use 5W40 A3/B4 type of oil. Later, the corresponding PSA standard was B71 2296.
I, for one, am using a 5W40 type of oil. Whichever I can find, from a good/reputable manufacturer. Castrol, Mobil, Liqui Moly, etc.
Even if LR recommended A5/B5 is low HTHS, I am trying to keep the HTHS above A5 specifications, meaning above 3.5 mPa*s.
The above PSA standard requires 4.0 mPa*s. Also a high TBN in order to clean efficiently the engine interior.
