Useless at one legged ar_e kicking

An arborist's leg has been severed after a length of rope, which was wrapped around his leg, was caught in a woodchipper, north-west of Sydney.

"The moment the leg went flying through the air, the quick actions of others meant they were able to grab and preserve it," a CareFlight spokeswoman said. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Good job the paramedics had some loose change on them.....

"Paramedics also stopped to buy ice from a petrol station to preserve the man's severed leg during the 25-minute drive". Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I have a relative who is a orthopedic surgeon and has had a few jobs like this especially with hands chopped off in machinery. He was telling me about a guy who came in with his mates carrying his hand in a bucket with a couple of bags of frozen peas in it. Apparently one of the guys asked if he could hang around as he wanted the bucket and the peas back. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The longest anaesthetic I was involved with was for hand reattachment and took 22hrs. I was working in Nijmegen, Netherlands at the time. Jules

The best excuse for not going to work I have ever heard was one day when I got a phone call from a staff member telling me that he couldn't come to work because his leg had fallen off!

I didn't know him at the time so you will understand I was a bit surprised. He had a real old fashioned country accent and his words were "I can't come to work today 'cause my leg's fell off".

It turned out that he had a prosthetic leg and unlike the modern ones it was held on with some leather straps and as he stepped up onto the bus to get to work one of the straps broke and his prosthetic leg really did fall off.
